Ohr Chadash Religious School

Ohr Chadash Religious School, located in Queens, New York, is an example of a new model of supplementary Jewish education. Comprised of a consortium of three Conservative synagogues in eastern Queens, Ohr Chadash offers classroom learning combined with experiential programming of the three partner synagogues. We stress the importance of parent, grandparent and guardian education as well as outstanding Shabbat experiences for young people.

Our school strives to nurture the child in the context of the family and the community. We endeavor to inspire curiosity and love of learning in all our students, such that your children will eagerly look forward to attending, not just this year, but in the years ahead as well.

The school is for children of ages pre-K to teens. We meet once a week on Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 12:30. We begin the day with the entire school together for Havdalah, songs, learning about the Torah portion of the week and much more. Then they divide into age groups and rotate in four major subjects: Tanakh (Bible), Jewish Holidays, Jewish History and Hebrew Language. We offer a Gesher Program specifically geared toward the post-Bar/Bat Mitzvah youth. There is also an enriching Art and Music component to provide a creative outlet for our students.
