Dear Congregants,
In light of recent antisemitic incidents across the country, including the recent attack on a synagogue in Michigan, we want to remind everyone in our community of the importance of remaining vigilant.
We encourage all congregants to be mindful of their surroundings when attending services or visiting synagogue facilities.
As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain a safe environment, we also ask everyone to be attentive when entering and leaving the building. After services and programs, please avoid lingering outside or in the parking areas, and help ensure that doors are not left open or unattended. Remaining aware of who is entering the building and promptly reporting anything that seems out of place helps protect our entire community.
In addition, we ask congregants to please be mindful of our security personnel. While we all appreciate the opportunity to greet and thank them, their primary responsibility is to remain focused on monitoring the building and ensuring the safety of everyone inside. When entering the building, please offer a quick hello if you wish, but allow them to remain attentive to their duties.
At the same time, we want to reassure our congregation that our community remains strong, resilient, and united. Throughout history, the Jewish people have faced challenges with courage, faith, and mutual support. Our synagogue will continue to be a place of prayer, learning, and community where all are welcome.
While vigilance is important, we also encourage everyone to take comfort in the strength of our community and in the steps being taken to safeguard our congregation. Together—with awareness, cooperation, and faith—we will maintain a safe, warm, and supportive environment for all.
Thank you for your continued awareness, cooperation, and commitment to the well-being of our synagogue community.
With prayers for peace and safety for all,
Rabbi Hillel Lavery-Yisraëli
