Koleinu, the ICCJ Choir, Wants You! You know who you are youre the one who just loves to sing - be it on stage, around a campfire, or in the shower. Youre the one who goes to a Broadway show or a concert and has to bite their lip to keep from singing out loud. Well, ICCJ has a place for you to release your soul and let the music come forth. Koleinu, the ICCJ Choir, under the direction of Cantor Haim Levy, is always looking for people just like you to join us. Dont be concerned if you cant read Hebrew because, while our music is sung mostly in Hebrew, everything is transliterated. You also do not have to read music. We generally learn our music by ear during our practice sessions and audio tapes are provided for home use. Most pieces are in four-part harmony. In addition to performing on the High Holy Days and at our annual Chanukah party, Koleinu has been invited to participate in concerts at other area synagogues. In addition, we produced a CD a few years ago and would love to put out another one in the future. While the singing is exhilarating and fulfilling, for many of us the friendship and camaraderie of being in a group of caring, talented people, currently ranging in age from teens to an octogenarian, means more than anything. So if you love to sing, can actually carry a tune, and are willing to commit to weekly practice sessions on Thursday evenings at ICCJ, please get in touch with us by calling Gale in the office at 718-591-5353. We would love to have you join us. |
